Commercial Estates Group (CEG) held an exhibition on 15th and
16th January 2008 proposing to improve and develop part of the
Radford Bridge Allotment Site adjacent to Martin's Pond in
Wollaton.
More than 120 local residents attended to discuss the plans with
the team.
We have reviewed all of the comments made and have undertaken
further work so that, where possible, we can take into account the
feedback received.
This website explains the feedback as well as showing a new
masterplan for the site and the proposed ecological improvements to
both Martin's Pond and the adjoining land.
Aims of the Development
- To safeguard Martin's Pond.
- To reduce vandalism and increase security in the area.
- To provide increased access and a larger nature reserve with
better linkages so that local residents north of Martin's Pond can
walk to this valuable resource.
- To bring derelict allotments back into use, providing a greater
number of usable allotments at a more manageable and desirable size
(in line with other allotment sites across Nottingham).
- To increase recreation space.
- To help meet the needs for high quality, traditional family
homes.
- To provide new community resources and facilities such as a
community orchard and allotments for community use with
provision for toilets and services such as water provision.
